✨ Freelance Website Projects

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to work on three freelance web design projects that each came to me through word of mouth:

  • Barry King Tennis Academy: This project came through a connection at my part-time city job—my boss recommended me when Barry mentioned needing a website.
  • On Court Adventures: Melissa, the founder, reached out after seeing the site I made for Barry.
  • Lift Hair Company: Megan, a hairstylist, was referred to me by Melissa after I completed the On Court Adventures website.

Each project was an opportunity to collaborate closely with a business owner, understand their brand, and create a digital presence that supported their goals.

“The best app design feels effortless, as if it simply ‘belongs’ in the user’s daily routine.”

Reflections & Takeaways

These freelance experiences have been invaluable in building both my technical and professional skills. I learned to:

  • Translate a client's vision into a functional and visually cohesive website
  • Adapt my design approach across platforms—from custom-coded sites to flexible, no-code builders like Wix
  • Balance aesthetics, usability, and business needs
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with clients, especially those unfamiliar with web design terms or processes

Most importantly, I learned how to ask the right questions, manage expectations, and keep projects moving forward with a collaborative, client-focused mindset.

These projects sparked my excitement for working closely with real people and helping them bring their ideas to life online.
